TINUBU URGES LOVE AND CHARITY TO  VULNERABLE  President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr by demonstrating greater love and compassion, particularly toward the vulnerable. The president said this in an interview with journalists after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan at the Abuja National Eid Prayer Ground on Sunday. The president urged Muslims not to return to the old and unacceptable paths but to remain steadfast in practicing the righteous virtues they had learned during Ramadan. “We should continue the good deeds as taught during the Holy month of Ramadan: care for the vulnerable, the orphans and less privileged. “Everything that we have observed, we should not revert to the path that is not acceptable to the teachings of this month,” the president said. COUPLE ARRESTED FOR FLOGGING OF MINOR OVER MANGOES PLUCKING IN BORNO The Borno State police command has arrested a couple for physically assaulting an 11-year-old girl, Hauwa Goni for plucking mangoes in their compound. In a statement on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Assistant Superintendent Nahum Daso said the couple, Muhammad Shetima  and Aisha Abubabar were arrested following a viral video depicting the physical abuse of a minor in the Pompomari area of Maiduguri. The statement read, On March 19 2025, an 11-year-old girl, Hauwa Goni, a Primary 5 pupil of Bolori Primary School, Federal Low Cost, entered the residence of one Mr. Muhammad Shetima 33yrs, in Pompomari to pluck mangoes. “In response, Mr. Shetima and his wife, Mrs. Aishatu Abubakar 23yrs, accosted the child and subjected her to severe flogging.
